Healthy Me

“The number one thing that my church needs is a healthy me. And if they don’t have a healthy me then I’m not able to provide the leadership that I need to provide.” Sean Seay, Lead Pastor, Athens Church

It is an easy trap to fall into, thinking you must invest all your energy into you ministry for it to be healthy. However, if you want to have the best possible leadership in whatever position you have, the best thing you can do is assure that you are healthy spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically (we dealt with physical health both here and here).

When we take a step back and think about it, this makes perfect sense. If things are not right between my wife and I on Sunday, I am not at my best to lead our Deaf Ministry. If I am not feeding myself spiritually, I will not be prepared to feed the people God has put under me. If I neglect exercise, I will not have the same energy to minister as I could have. A healthy me works at my highest capacity.

This week, take some time to keep yourself healthy. Play with your kids, take your wife on a date, pound some pavement, spend some more time in prayer. What we do is important, and we need to do it the best that we can!
